With assistance from Argyll Fisheries Trust, further work is planned in 2025 to reduce the amount of fine sediment entering the river which is known to be contributing factor to the decline of salmon and sea trout in the river.
The planned work in 2025 continues a series of green bank revetment works undertaken over several years, which is helping to recover the condition of the riverbed by reducing the severe erosion of riverbanks that deposit vast amount of silt into the river. Livestock fencing, coarse woody material and coppicing works are also being undertaken to increase habitat complexity and re-establish bankside vegetation that will consolidate riverbanks and provide shade, helping to keep the river cool and productive for wild fish.
